1141vinyl_playerCompact disc is one of the most famous gadgets on the market. People use it in different fields and for different purposes. But not many of us know the history of this data media.

The world saw the appearance of the first audio compact disk in 1980. The first CD-DA was introduced by two big wigs on the market - Phillips and Sony as an alternative to the vinyl. 4 years later CD-DA was developed into a CD-ROM which allowed storing information and retrieving data. It changed compact disc significantly. We should be grateful to these companies, because after that it has become possible to listen to music. About 70 minutes of high quality audio was possible and the capacity was 650 megabytes.

Later, in 1990, Sony and Philips developed CD-R - a compact disc that is recordable. And today we have come to DVD. CDs of different types will never create the same expectations, because they don’t have such capacity and compression algorithms. Now you know more about the history of the compact disk.
